What I want to do

How conceited to list my preferences as a freelancer. Or, how good that I finally learned when and how I function best, and that I have the courage to guard that context, ultimately benefitting all parties involved. As with all preferences, they are not make or break requirements. Reading this, you'll know what's important to me. Let me know what's important to you, and we'll figure out our common playground.

The why

My groundbreakingly unique desire is to make a difference. On the one hand, for the web: I want to make digital products that really add something to our life and in a user-friendly, accessible, sustainable way. On the other hand, for you and me: I want your team to be happy to have me. It should matter that I am doing the work.

The who

Being part of a team is not a means to an end. The journey is more important than the destination. My ideal team is small (‹ 5) and comprised of people who sincerely enjoy what they do, and pride themselves on doing it well: they set the bar high. They're serious enough to not deal in bullshit, but not too serious to be playful. And most importantly, people who have wants and needs and personal lives, and don't leave all that at the office front door.

The what

As described in what I can do, I love “problem-setting". Job-wise that usually means I'm great in the beginning, fuzzy phases of a project, or the deep in the forest, we no longer see the trees-stage. But as long as there is some challenge to it, some learning/growing involved, and my curiosity and critical questions are welcomed: I do well in any stage.

The where

A lot of my work can be done remotely. And for the concentration-intensive, sit down & lose myself in the work, I prefer to do that in the comfort of my own home office.

Other parts of my work require people together in live sessions. I strongly believe in the necessity of those, so I'm happy to travel.
... As long as your office is within a 55 km radius from Bruges, or is easily reached by train (i.e. direct lines: Ghent, Louvain, Brussels, Antwerp, Kortrijk, ...)

The when

Selling time is so last year. I became a freelancer to offer my skills & expertise, not my time.

I am for hire strictly on a project basis. What that means is that we decide I will do X for/with you. We mutually agree what successfully doing X is worth and by when it should be done. I do X, in however much hours a day I want & need but by the deadline and I'm always available for questions or remarks.
